Matured in American oak hogsheads for 18 months. Inky black in colour with a very deep dark red black hue. The nose serves up ripe dark plum and liquorice aromas followed by some vanillin confectionary and spice. Fleshy dark plum and liquorice fruits are underscored by bright acidity on the mid weighted palate. Vanillin oak and spice elements linger on the back half. Sturdy but relatively polished tannin structure. A touch simplistic it finishes with a moderately powered aftertaste.
