Beechworth Wine Estates was established in 2003 by John & Jo Iwanuch. The property comprises 53 acres located adjacent to the Everton to Beechworth Rail Trail.
Forty percent of the wine was fermented in old oak, the balance in tank, and matured on lees for 6 months to add texture. Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. The nose sees elevated pear and red apple scents meld into subtle dried honey and spice notes. Delicious ripe pear, red apple and dried honey flavours slide across the palate showing a texturally supple quality. Superb richness, intensity and drive finishing fresh with a dash of spice on the long luscious and captivating aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
Alc. 12.8%

Other Reviews....
One-third fermented in old oak; matured on lees for six months. Arrives fully formed and in harmony, which can't easily be said of every 12-month-old gris. Part fermentation in oak has certainly broadened its flavour profile to incorporate a real depth of yellow apple, pear and white peach, together with honeysuckle, ginger cream and just a touch of preserved lemon bite. Its complexity is enhanced by a lovely textural quality. Fab for the price. Drink by 2025.
