2021 Ad Hoc Avant Gardening Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec

A rich, deeply fruited Cabernet with a bright robust feel and long finish.

Sourced from The Riversdale vineyard planted in 1997, this excellent blend was matured for a period of 10 months in a combination of new and 1-2 year old French oak barrels.
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Elevated scents of blackcurrant, plum and red liquorice fill the nostrils complimented by spicy vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco and dried herb notes. Rich blackcurrant, fleshy plum and ripe mulberry fruits are delivered with excellent intensity across the mid weighted palate. Some red liquorice, cedary tobacco, earthy dried herb and spice elements also chime in. Sturdy tannin structure with a long deeply fruited finish that has a bright robust feel to it.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

This is such a pretty wine. The cooler vintage has contributed to its elegance and charm. Opens with a perfumed African violet and red berry combination on the nose. And then the palate provides such an exquisitely integrated, balanced mix of bright and lively red fruits with the support of fine, silky tannins and perfectly weighted oak.
