Pikes have long produced one of Clare Valley’s benchmark Rieslings, 2020 marking the 36th release, one which the Pikes family believe will sit comfortably amongst their best vintages. Fruit is sourced predominately from the Estate’s Polish Hill River vineyard with the balance coming from growers located in the Sevenhill, Leasingham and Mintaro districts. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel on lees for 3 months.

A superb Clare Valley Riesling combining razor like precision with intense lemon and lime fruits.

Brilliant water like core with a subtle tinge of green running around the outskirts. Leaping out of the glass is a classic mix of lemon and lime trailed by scents of green apple, orange rind and chalky talc. Intense lemon and lime juice flavours burst across the palate underpinned by crunchy acidity with nuances of orange rind, talc and steely mineral characters drifting in on the back half. Superb precision and power finishing dry with a long scrumptious aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 12%

Other Reviews….
Elegance is the cornerstone of this lovely riesling, with a flawless serenade of citrus allsorts, its spine of acidity a contradiction in terms, because it's almost sweet - an illusion, of course. An each-way proposition for now or later consumption. Drink by 2035.
