2020 Hudelot-Noellat Nuits-St Georges Les Bas de Combes
Other Reviews....
This is also attractively spicy with its layered aromas of various dark berries, earth and a whiff of plum. The highly energetic and beautifully detailed flavors possess an equally appealing texture while exuding a refreshing salinity on the slightly firmer, lingering and youthfully austere finale. This is an excellent Nuits villages and one to look for. Drink from 2028+.

The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe exhibits notes of cassis, cherries, sweet berries, warm spices and creamy new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, richly layered and concentrated palate that's vibrant and complete. Deep and seamless, it concludes with a long, penetrating finish. It's showing especially well this year.

Rich black purple, powerful, more solid even than the Vosne but it is all good. Some blackberry. And blackcurrant leaf. Plenty of structure, very good acidity behind the natural Nuits tannins.

Jasper Morris MW - Inside Burgundy
Fermented with 20% whole clusters and aged in 15% new casks, this delivers deeply ripe black fruits, with smoky, earthy nuance and an exotic, savoury, almost animal note. This is from a parcel of 0.22ha at the base of the combe. The cooling influence kept the potential alcohol to 13% and the result is superb. Typical of the village and particularly good for a village-level wine. Drink 2023 - 2035.
