2020 Domaine Pichot Clos Cartaud Vouvray Sec

Domaine Pichot is a 24Ha family estate in Vouvray on the right bank of the Loire, where vignerons dedicate their time to the cultivation of Chenin Blanc, locally coined ‘Pineau de la Loire’, to produce dry, sweet and sparkling whites.
The Clos Cartaud is made from 45-75 year old vines located above the village adjoining Clos Saint Mathurin not far from the Vallee de Nouys where the Pichot family and winery are located.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with flashes of green around the edges and a watery hue. Pronounced spicy baked apple and pear aromas mix with light honeysuckle, ginger and quinine. Rich and fleshy the palate is awash with ripe pear and baked apple flavours which overlay quince, musk, honeysuckle and ginger spice. Finishes dry with vivid yet perfectly integrated acidity and a long aftertaste that’s both textured and refreshingly scrumptious.
