Coming Soon - 2020 Bindi Block 8 Pinot Noir
Bindi is one of Australia’s most respected small estates, producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of purity and finesse. The vines grow in a mix of ancient Ordovician soils and volcanic slopes in the Macedon Ranges, farmed with sustainable, low-intervention methods and intensive handwork. In the winery, natural fermentations, long lees ageing, and gentle handling capture the seasonal expression of this remarkable landscape.
The Block 8 Pinot Noir is sourced from their newer 2016 "high-density" vineyard planting. This block is planted with 8,888 vines (composed of 7 different clones) and is the eighth block established at Bindi. It includes a section of “Crazy” 22,600 vines per hectare experimental section, truly pushing the limits of extreme viticulture. Fruit is fermented in open vats and matured in French oak barrels of which 50% are new for a period of 15-17 months.
The 2020 Block 8 carries its hallmark darker fruit profile, lifted by red cherry fragrance and layered notes of spice, earth, and game. Expect a creamy, supple palate with smooth fruit–tannin integration that builds through the mid-palate before fanning out into a long finish. Further complexity is likely to develop with time, with excellent cellaring potential over the next decade.
