Wax sealed and packaged in a large scaled, premium bottle with a velvet like label, the presentation alone almost justifies the $95 normal retail price. A rich, polished Coonawarra blend that finishes long and elegant.
Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Intense blackcurrant, blackberry and liquorice aromas sail through the olfactory senses with some dark chocolate, spicy vanillin cedar, earth and subtle pepper notes joining in along the way. Rich and generously textured in its flow, the mid weighted palate is decorated with blackberry, blackcurrant and liquorice fruits. Vanillin cedar, earthy dark chocolate, leather and spice characters linger across the back half. Fine grained, polished tannins finishing long and elegant.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Other Reviews….
Gorgeously fruited and seductively complex on the nose with blackberry, sweet plum, tapenade and roasted almond notes, it's concentrated and wonderfully generous on the palate offering richness as well as silky flow. Fine chalky tannins provide awesome structure to this stunning red. At its best: 2025 to 2042.

Matured for 18 months in French oak (40% new). Like all the Penley reds submitted this year, this is vibrant and bright on the nose. Brambly blackberries, mulberries and fresh garden mint adorn the aromas, while in the mouth, the acidity swooshes in and out of each of the flavours, enlivening them and making way for the fine tannins: the carriage upon which the experience rides across the mouth. A modern, concentrated take on the classical Australian blend. Drink by 2037.
