Other Reviews....
This is aromatically to the Bourgogne but with more elegance and notably more spice. The middle weight flavors offer a step up in volume as well with a more sophisticated mouthfeel that carries over to the detail, moderately stony and equally saline-inflected finale. While this is actually a premier cru in disguise, it is still being declared as a villages wine and offer fine quality for its level. Drink 2025+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

Offering up notes of sweet berries, spices and orange rind, the 2019 Volnay Village is medium-bodied, bright and elegantly fleshy, its pretty core of fruit framed by melting tannins and lively acids. Matured in entirely once-used barrels, this has turned out very well. Drink 2022 - 2042.

This actually comes from Clos de la Rougeotte, matured in 50% new wood, all from tonnellerie Tremeaux. It displays a really gorgeous perfumed dark cherry-skin nose, a vast swelling fruit on the palate: you are getting much more than village Volnay here in this wine, which is in fact declassified 1er Cru. It retains admirable freshness behind, and superb length.
