The Ceretto family are pioneers in Piedmont, and much of their international renown has been built on their fastidious work in the vineyards, and their (at the time) revolutionary approach to promoting the concept of cru wines in the region. This idea of highlighting specific vineyards chosen for their enduring excellence was something Bruno and Marcello Ceretto learnt after visiting Burgundy in the 1960's. Applying this approach to Barolo and Barbaresco has further elevated these wines to now be counted amongst the most appreciated and prestigious wines in the world.

Other Reviews....
An organic wine, the Ceretto 2019 Barolo Bussia is a wine of beautiful depth and streamlined intensity. This Barolo offers dark fruit flavors, but you also get crushed stone, rust, a touch of exotic spice or grilled herb and fresh licorice root. The ensemble is beautiful, and what stands out most is the polished endurance and silky consistency of the mouthfeel. Drink 2025 - 2048.

Monica Larner - Wine Advocate (Aug 25, 2023)

The 2019 Barolo Bussia is rich, deep and explosive, with all the deeply-pitched, spice and balsamic notes that are so typical of Bussia in full display. A broad, ample Barolo, the Bussia is seriously impressive from start to finish. All the elements are so well balanced. There's plenty of tannin, but it is all nicely integrated into the wine's frame. Time in the glass brings out the wine's inner perfume and explosive energy. This aromatically beguiling, layered Barolo is superb. Drink 2029-2044.

Antonio Galloni - Vinous

A fine and open grained Bussia with a smoky, grilled meat and spice character to the plum fruit. Medium to full body. Soft and velvety and juicy. This will develop into something very serious. Needs three or four years to open. Best after 2025.
