2019 Bass River 1835 Chardonnay
Barrel fermented in oak puncheons (20% new) and matured on fine lees for 10 months. Brilliant very pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green around the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of nectarine, bees wax and bacon fat are followed by citrus and roasted almond notes. Rich nectarine, pear and dried honey flavours sit over a prominent bacon fat back drop with some roasted almond and spice also evident. Textured but laced with freshness it finishes with a lingering toastiness.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
