Made from 100% Listan Negro grapes aged for 11 months in 500 litre neutral French oak barrels and 45 hectoliter foudre. Deep dark red colour with subtle tinges of black to the edges and a bright red hue. Aromas of red cherries have a distinct volcanic/graphite like overlay with notions of dried meats, sappy stalk and peppered herbs also present. Light in body with an elegant, fresh feel the palate has sour to red cherry fruits infused with smoked herbs over a back drop of graphite, light stalk and pepper. Fine grained tannins with bright acidity and a vibrant aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 12.5%

Other Reviews….
The single-vineyard Listán Negro 2018 La Solana was produced with the grapes of a centenary plot that tends to achieve high ripeness. It fermented with 50% full clusters and indigenous yeasts in concrete vats and matured in second-use 4,500-liter oak foudre and used 500-liter barriques for 10 months. This has a more reductive style, flinty and a bit ashy, but the palate is incredibly elegant and balanced, and feels like it's going to age nicely. It has to be the finest vintage for La Solana. 8,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2019. Drink 2020-2028.
