2018 S.C. Pannell Montepulciano

The fruit for this wine was sourced from the Case vineyard in Langhorne Creek and maturation took place in third and fourth use French oak puncheons for a period of 16 months.

Magnificent saturation of colour – inky black and totally impenetrable with a very deep bright dark purple hue. Jumping out of the glass are aromas of black and morello cherries laced with dried herbs followed by some liquorice, inky earth and spice notes. Medium bodied, rich and juicy flavours of blackberry, liquorice and dark cherry sit above vanillin cedar, inky earth and spice nuances. Ripe, slightly chewy tannins and youthful acidity with a medium to long ripe dark fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
