2018 S.C. Pannell Dead End Tempranillo
Inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense black cherry and liquorice scents jump out of the glass followed by scorched earth, vanillin cedar and spice notes. Rich, concentrated and firmly structured, luscious black cherry and liquorice fruits are underpinned by ripe chewy tannins. Elements of scorched earth, dried herbs and spicy vanillin cedar are also apparent. Lush yet meaty like mouthfeel with excellent depth of fruit. Long rich aftertaste showing both flesh and grip.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews…
This captures vibrant, primary flavours of sarsaparilla, juicy red plums, curry leaves and baking spices yet there's complexity, too. Some meaty reduction, jamon and charry oak lend it to a savoury outlook as do the stealth-like tannins. Drink by 2028.
