Dark red core with black toned edges and a brick red tinged hue. Aromas of red to dark cherry, hints of rose petal and raspberry are followed by earth, dried herbs and subtle tobacco. Rich red cherry and red currant fruits are framed by a muscular tannin structure and vibrant, energetic acidity. Earth, dried herb, subtle tobacco and spice nuances ensue. Slightly chalky yet well fleshed feel finishing bright and savoury.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

Other Reviews….
The 2018 Barolo Bussia captures all of the aromatic intensity and nuance that is so typical of the best wines from Monforte's Bussia district. Strong spice and floral notes lead into dark fruit laced with super-expressive balsamic overtones. Rose petal, mint, blood orange and cinnamon linger on the exquisite finish. Drink 2024-2038.

Antonio Galloni – Vinous

Dark cherry, a little liquorice and cinnamon sticks, black tea, a bit of wet soil. Rich and stony, ferrous feel, fresh too, with an earthy spiced tea finish of excellent length. Not quite the usual Bussia power, though has a charm and freshness that’s a hallmark of the better wines from this unusual vintage. I kept tossing up between 93 and 94 points; one of those wines. Drink 2026-2038.
