Sourced from the Drogemuller family vineyard which was planted in 1992. Maturation took place in French oak barriques and hogsheads for a period of 20 months and the wine was then given a further 36 months bottle age before being released. Midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Emanating from the glass with good intensity are ripe blackcurrant and mulberry aromas which intermingle with black olive, cedary tobacco and spicy dried herb notes. Richly fruited, the palate is loaded with ripe blackcurrant flavours yet manages to carry a refined tone. Notions of mulberry, dusty earth, black olive, spicy cedar and dried herbs sit underneath. Fine, slightly grainy tannin structure. Concludes long and deeply fruited with a dusty elegance.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.2%

Other Reviews….
Bottle age has bestowed this with additional layers of nourishing and rewarding complexity. Red and black currants are muddled with dried herbs, cedar and graphite. Yet the mid-palate is the star, a soupçon of beef bouillon, tapenade and dried porcini-derived umami. Lovely drinking. The finish may be on the wane. Just. Defined by the resolute urgency of now, this screams for expediency. Yet very good it is. Drink by 2027.
