2018 Oakridge Vineyard Series Blanc de Blancs
Refined and airy yet racy, this is a beautifully proportioned Yarra Valley Sparkling.
Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and aged on yeast lees for 5 years and 8 months. Pours with an exuberant mousse that slowly fades to reveal a pale straw coloured base that’s finely threaded by a very nimble bead. Elevated aromas of yeast lees, citrus and baked bread are trailed by hints of cashew, dried honey and subtle chalky notes. Refined and airy yet racy, the beautifully proportioned palate is detailed with baked bread, citrus, yeast lees and brioche flavours which are complimented by delicate cashew and dried honey characters across the back half. Gentle creamy texture with crisp acidity and a long dry, chalk tinged finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews…..
Just over five years on lees before being disgorged and with six months on cork before being released. 4.5g/L dosage. A very bright green gold. A complex amalgam of stone fruits, baked apples and brioche. Fine boned and very even on the palate. Already a delight to drink, this will still be looking good five years from now. Drink by 2030.
