While the history of the Inglenook estate dates back to 1873, the modern rejuvenation of the property began when Francis Ford Coppola purchased a portion of the vineyards in 1975. He vowed to reunite the various parcels of land, along with the historic Chateau, and restore the reputation Inglenook enjoyed earlier in its life. With input from esteemed Bordeaux consultant Stephane Derenoncourt, and Philippe Bascaules (Chateau Margaux), Inglenook is now firmly one of the leading properties in Napa Valley.

Superb inky black heart with a deep dark red black hue. Beautifully scented the nose offers up alluring red to black currant and violet aromas followed by a hint of liquorice, subtle toasted vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Rich yet refined and polished, the mid weighted palate is flush with dark to blackcurrant fruits, subtle dark chocolate, vanillin cedar, lightly scorched earth and traces of spicy tobacco characters. The well integrated tannins have a velvet like feel yet are solidly built for the longer term. Finishes long and expansive with a touch of finesse.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews....
A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon sports a deep garnet-purple color and expressive notes of mocha, tapenade, grilled meats and cedar with a core of creme de cassis, baked plums and blackberry pie plus a waft of garrigue. The full-bodied palate has tons of juicy black fruit layers, supported by fine-grained tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Drink 2022 - 2040.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Wine Advocate (Nov 2020)

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon is a terrific example of the year in the way it marries energy, vibrant fruit and mid-weight structure. All the elements are so nicely balanced. Crushed red berry fruit, mocha, spice, leather, licorice and sweet pipe tobacco abound. Classy and polished to the core, the 2018 Rubicon is a winner from Inglenook. Readers should expect a decidedly laid back style for the year. Drink 2024 - 2038.

Subtle and complex red with blackberry, black truffle, sweet tobacco and mahogany. Highlights of lavender and violets. Full-bodied and very tight with finesse and tension. Very polished, fine tannins. Long finish. Delicious already, but best after 2022.
