Cellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2020-2028)

Dense inky black colour with a very deep dark purple black hue. Intense dark plum, blackberry and liquorice aromas are intermeshed with vanillin oak, hints of dark chocolate, light fennel and spice. Rich and full in body yet far from over weight the palate has an air of refinement to it with an even spread of dark plum, blackberry and liquorice fruit. Subtlety toasted vanillin oak, dark chocolate and spice elements lie underneath. Finely integrated tannins have a polished feel yet also provide a sturdy framework. Nicely balanced with a long fleshy conclusion.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
20yo vines, crushed and destemmed, cultured yeast, 6-9 days on skins, 18 months in 55% American and 45% French oak (30% new). A textured, medium-bodied shiraz, oak surprisingly assertive, but former Penfolds senior winemaker Daryl Groom's long experience will reassure confidence that fruit, tannin and oak will coalesce and flow in a single stream. Drink by 2038.
