A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Midnight black heart with a dark red hue. Lifted aromatics of blackcurrant and liquorice rise out of the glass followed by dried herb, cedary tobacco and spicy earth notes. Medium weighted, generous blackcurrant fruits show ample flesh with elements of liquorice, earth, vanillin cedar, light tobacco and spicy dried herbs lurking beneath. Fine grained yet sturdily built tannins have a polished feel. Long spicy blackcurrant and dried herb aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.1%

Other Reviews….
A blend of 52/41/7% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc, each variety picked and fermented separately in old, open concrete vats, hand plunged 2–3 times a day. Basket pressed then matured in new (10%) and seasoned French oak for 14 months before blending. Named in honour of the owners' father, Peter Brown, who loved a good bordeaux blend. A more prominent merlot presence than in the '17, Pierre needs a good decant for the wine's aromatics to soar. Violet, musk, red/black berries, licorice and earth with dried herb. Tannins run deep and fine. Well composed and quite the beauty. Drink by 2030.
