2018 Alejandro Durif

This big mouthful of a wine was matured in a mixture of American and older French oak barrels.
Impenetrable inky black colour with an equally deep dark red black hue. Ripe morello cherry and liquorice aromas show good elevation over toasty vanillin oak, earthy dried herb and spice notes. Thick and rich, the palate is an explosion of flavour with luscious morello cherry and liquorice fruit underpinned by a fair dose of toasty vanillin oak and spicy dried herb characters. Sturdy tannins firm up the back palate. Excellent power and concentration with a long aftertaste that’s rich and chewy.
Cellar 5-6 years.
