John Vickery is a legend of the Australian wine industry and is widely acknowledged as the old master of Riesling. His illustrious career spans over 50 years at the likes of Leo Buring and Richmond Grove during which time he amassed more than 50 Trophies and over 400 gold medals. He was also responsible for the re-introduction of screw caps with his 1998 Richmond Grove Watervale Riesling. Vickery wines are made in collaboration with Philip Lehmann, son of Peter Lehmann.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a greenish tinged outskirts and watery hue. Powerful lemon and lime aromatics soar from the glass followed by hints of orange rind, some distinct talc notes and subtle flinty mineral characters. Super concentrated with amazing power and persistence, the Vickery is fuller in style than the Wilson’s Polish Hill River with a rich generous textural feel. About as intensely flavoured as Riesling gets the palate is flooded with lime and citrus flavours that show great volume in the mouth. Nuances of orange rind, talc and flinty mineral are also evident. Finishes with crunchy acidity and a very long lime, citrus, orange rind, talc and flinty mineral aftertaste.
