Based in McLaren Vale, Kings’ Creed is a new venture between former rugby superstar and Wallaby Captain Nathan Sharpe, ex Moet Hennessy executive David Krenich and winemaker Ben Riggs. An admirable first release, the 2017 Chardonnay has filled out nicely in the bottle. Fruit was sourced from the Adelaide Hills and wild bunch fermented in old French oak barrels where it remained on lees for 6 months.

Rich and well rounded in it’s mouthfeel yet possessing a vibrant underlying freshness.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a glimmer of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Intense peach, lemon butter and subtle butterscotch aromas drift from the glass with notions of honeycomb, nougat and spicy bees wax in the background. Rich and creamy yet also possessing a vibrant underlying freshness, the palate is bristling with ripe peach, honeycomb and butterscotch flavours. Citrusy nougat, light biscuity oak and creamy cashew sits beneath. Concludes with a long well rounded yet vivid aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews…..
A new project from Nathan Sharpe (former Wallaby Captain), Samantha Sharpe (former LVMH Marketing Manager) and David Krenich (former LVMH superstar) with winemaker Ben Riggs at the winemaking helm. This hits the spot for a fresh take on chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills. Clean as whistle too.
Razor cut slices of nectarine, green apple, a faint hint of nougat and vanilla cream. Feels bright and very fresh, leaner in style than the bouquet suggests, nice sense of spice and citrus zest breezing through that perfume. It’s super easy to drink, feels like it brings a touch of class. Fairly priced, if not punching above its weight.
Drink 2020-2024.
