2017 Standish The Relic Shiraz Viognier

The Relic is the most exotic of the Standish quartet. Magnificent concentration of colour displaying an impenetrable midnight black core with a deep dark red black hue. Powerful aromas of blackberry and liquorice intermix with dark plum and a hint of dark chocolate followed by smoky vanillin cedar, a faint whiff of honeysuckle, fennel and pepper. Voluptuous and rich in its mouthfeel, intensely concentrated flavours of dark plum, liquorice and blackberry supplely kiss the palate. Complexing elements of smoky vanillin cedar, fennel, traces of dried meats and pepper sit beneath the enormous volume of lavish fruit. Beautiful fruit purity and balance with velvet smooth yet robust tannins giving the finish some traction. Concludes long, powerful and lusty.
