Totally opaque dark red black colour with a bright dark red hue. Aromas of dark plum and liquorice infused with blackpepper are trailed by graphite, some meaty notes and spicy black olives. Rich yet elegant the mid weight palate sports a peppered flavour profile of spicy plum, liquorice, smoky vanillin cedar and dried meats. Finely grained tannins and bright acidity provide the framework. Finishes medium to long and savoury.

Whole berries, co-fermented with 2.5% viognier, matured in French oak (20% new). Light to medium-bodied, juicy and vibrantly alive, it does travel along narrow gauge lines, but that is counterintuitively a limitation I'll readily accept. Drink by 2027.
