2017 Douglas Laing & Co. Provenance Glengoyne 8 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Douglas Laing seems to be one of the few independents to regularly secure casks of Glengoyne. The distillery's reputation is partly derived from its continued use of Golden Promise barley. It's also one of a dwindling few to completely avoid peat, the barley dried using only warm air. The resulting whisky is relatively light-bodied with a trademark grassy / fruity interplay (think green apples, pears, and sweet malt). Normally associated with full-term sherry maturation, the outturn for this release was 311 bottles from a refill barrel. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Bright orange peel, zesty citrus, soft vanilla sponge, and sweet malted barley. Palate: Rich marmalade, buttery pastry, malt loaf, and fresh stem ginger. Finish: Gentle and balanced with delicate orchard fruits.
