Aged in French oak barrels, mostly of second use in order to maintain the integrity of fruit. Totally opaque black dark red core with a deep bright dark red hue. Spicy ripe red plum, dark cherry and red liquorice aromas show good elevation with smoky cedar, meaty notes and peppered herbs following on. Medium to full bodied with an elegant savoury feel, flavours of spicy red plum and liquorice are to the fore with underlying elements of subtlety smoked meats, spicy vanillin cedar and peppered herbs. Smooth, finely grained tannins. Good freshness and length with a medium to long conclusion.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews….
Dark plums and morello cherries combine with fresher nuances of blueberries and violets, as well as dark chocolate, vanilla and cloves on the nose. Lots of minerally undertones, too. Wonderful acidity/fruit tension to this on the palate with a really round core of dark fruit, bolstered by foursquare tannins. Chewy on the rather long finish. Drink in 2023.
