2016 Lonely Vineyard Shiraz
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Intense black cherry and liquorice top notes meld into smoky vanillin cedar, dried meats, fennel and peppered herb scents. Silky smooth with medium to full body weight, the palate is generously endowed with dark to black plum and liquorice fruits which overlay lightly smoked vanillin cedar, dried herbs, earth and pepper. Polished tannin structure with a savoury medium to long finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
This has all the allure and charm of the Eden Valley. Inky; smelling of crushed gravel with flecks of spice and licorice, yet at its heart excellent fruit. Full-bodied, richly flavoured with fine-grained tannins and oak neatly enmeshed (aged in French puncheons, 33% new, 16 months), which adds another layer of complexity. Drink by 2028.
