2016 Gibson The Smithy Shiraz Cabernet

A blend of 52% Shiraz and 48% Cabernet Sauvignon matured for 20 months in a combination of 60% French oak and 40% American oak. Impenetrable black dark purple colour with a deep dark purple hue. Elevated blackberry and liquorice scents intermix with blackcurrant and dark chocolate followed by vanillin cedar and spice. Full bodied the rich opulently textured palate is dominated by flavours of ripe blackberries and liquorice with some ripe blackcurrant also chiming in. Vanillin cedar, subtle notions of dark chocolate and spice sit in the background. Velvet like tannins with a long powerful finish of blackberries, liquorice, ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate, vanillin cedar and spice. A rich Barossa blend.
