2016 First Drop Fat of the Land Greenock Shiraz

Matured in 50% new French oak hogsheads for 20 months. Impenetrable inky black colour with a very deep black dark purple hue. Engulfing the nostrils are hedonistic blackberry, liquorice and dark plum aromas which are followed by dark chocolate, vanillin oak, hints of blueberry and spicy mocha. Rich, broad and lush yet at the same time remarkably fresh, the full bodied palate has relentless waves of dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and blueberry fruit crash across it. The undercurrent vanillin cedar, earthy mocha and spice characters. Velvety tannins and bright acidity provide the structure. Outstanding power with a finish that’s long and energetic.
