Glenallachie mature their own 8-year-old expression in a heavy combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry puncheons, along with a small quantity of Virgin Oak casks. It's a wood-driven style that some love, others find smothering. Scale that back to one cask type and you'll potentially get a better picture of the distillery character - which is exactly what Douglas Laing are offering here. 410 bottles were drawn from a refill hogshead. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Red Summer fruits, candied stem ginger and a touch of cocoa. Palate: Plenty of creamy cereals, mixing with raspberry jam doughnuts and white pepper. Finish: Lingers long with an oily mouthfeel, charred oak, cloves and cinnamon sticks.
