2016 Claxton's Exploration Series Campbeltown 6 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

As with the previous release, only whiskies from the Campbeltown Peninsula make it into this bottling - so that's Springbank, Glen Scotia and possibly Glengyle. The proportions are not disclosed, meaning it could also be just a teaspoon of one added to a cask of any of the above. PX sherry matured and bottled at the right time to capture a succulent, tongue-coating, sweeter-styled malt that retains a delicate saline / coastal freshness; a hint of tangy orange peel and chocolate gets the balance near perfection. Even at just six years old, there is something special about this region's whiskies. You'll find it hard to stop at one. 50% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... NOSE: Toffee. Vanilla - marzipan. Prunes. Raisins in syrup PALATE: Sweet and malty. Lots of fruit and dessert flavours. Strudel. FINISH: Sweet and satisfying finish. Fudge with raisins in the aftertaste.
