2016 Best's Great Western Cabernet Sauvignon
Trophy winner at the 2017 Victorian Wine Show for best Cabernet Sauvignon. Excellent colour saturation displaying a totally opaque black dark red core with a deep bright dark red hue. A fragrant nose of freshly crushed blackcurrants and violets overlay notions of dusty cedar, light tobacco and subtlety spiced bay leaf. Rich inky blackcurrant fruit dominates the medium bodied palate whilst also epitomising Great Western’s trademark refined elegance. Underpinning the youthful fruit are traces of mulberry, spicy cedar, light earth and subtle bay leaf infusions. Relatively supple mid palate with good bright acidity giving the dryish finish an energetic feel. Fine grained, lightly dusted tannins provide structural support. Medium to long aftertaste of blackcurrant, spicy cedar, inky earth and bay leaf. Still very young this will improve immeasurably with bottle age.
Cellar 8-10 years.
