2015 Mader Riesling

The Mader domaine is a small volume, high quality wine producer based in the picture postcard village of Hunawihr. Their Rieslings are some of the few in Alsace produced in a classic fine dry style built to age. A blend of several sites of mostly limestone based soil this wine also contains almost 15% de-classified Grand Cru fruit from vines around 30 years old in the great Rosacker vineyard.

Bright pale straw core with greenish straw coloured edges and a watery hue. Aromas of ripe limes and red apples laced with honeysuckle are followed by citrusy toast like characters and spice. Ripe and texturally full the palate dishes up flavours of red apples, limes and honeysuckle over some slatey citrus characters and a touch of mineral. Finishes dry with good freshness. Long aftertaste of ripe red apples, limes, infusions of honeysuckle, subtle slate and mineral.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
