2015 Cape Mentelle Chardonnay

A rich, textured Margaret River Chardonnay that’s both powerful and complex.

Matured in Burgundian coopered French oak barriques, of which approximately one third were new for a period of 10 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with a very distinctive tinge of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Lifted nectarine and white peach aromas are delicately overlaid by dried honey and struck match stick characters followed by biscuity oak and spice. Rich with a glycerol almost creamy like textural feel but finishing with great freshness, mouthfilling flavours of white peaches and ripe nectarines laced with dried honey meld into biscuity cashew like characters, spicy citrusy nougat and subtle gun flint infusions. Superb concentration and depth concluding with a very long ripe white peach, nectarine, dried honey, biscuity oak, subtle cashew, spicy nougat, lees and smoky gun flint aftertaste.
