2014 Down the Rabbit Hole Shiraz

Winemaker Walter Clappis has crafted this delicious Shiraz from 15 year old vines and employed a combination of 50% new American oak and 50% one and two year old French oak to mature the wine for a period of 18 months.

Possesses a savoury richness and supple textural feel.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Nosing reveals scents of liquorice and blackberries laced with smoky cedar and some meatiness finishing with pepper end notes. Medium to full bodied with a soft fleshy texture the palate is amply endowed with liquorice and blackberry flavours. An attractive savoury smokiness overlays the rich fruit. Dried meats are followed by some spicy pepper on the finish. Excellent length and richness. Velvet smooth tannins. Long conclusion of liquorice, blackberries, smoky cedar, dried meats and spicy pepper.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
