2014 Cooper's Choice The Golden Cut Collection Campbeltown 11 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Part of Cooper's Choice new 'Golden Cut' series, into which only the most characterful casks make the cut. This should bring a smile to the face of those partial to Campbeltown styles - regardless of presumed origin - and there is speculation that it's a tea-spooned Springbank (which is why it's classified as a blended malt rather than a single). Comes finished in an x-Martinique Rum cask with a yield of 318 bottles at high strength. Be quick! 50% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... An extremely pleasant 50% ABV; there's absolutely no harshness here. Initially, a hint of caramel reminiscent of Glengyle, but the taste quickly moves away from this impression and towards what it already impressed with on the nose: delicious fresh apricots and peaches, along with mandarin orange blossom and mirabelle plums, damp pebbles, a touch of salt and pepper, and eventually, dry wood.
