2013 Vina Cobos Bramare Marchiori Vineyard Chardonnay
For those seeking the heavier end of the Chardonnay spectrum, this wine delivers the goods. Sourced from 15 year old vines at the Marchiori vineyard, occupying a semi-desert climate at the foot of the Andes Mountains (3254 feet). It spent 12 months in French oak, 50% of which was new. Bright straw colour with a tinge of green around the edges and a pale straw hue. Scents of ripe peach intermixed with cashew and light butterscotch are followed by hints of nougat and spicy, biscuity oak. Wonderfully creamy mouth feel, with a mouth filling palate; generous flavours of ripe peaches, butterscotch and honeycomb over a background of toasty oak, nougat and spice. Soft acidity but enough to balance this wine's richness and lovely textural qualities. Clean dry finish. Excellent depth with a long creamy aftertaste of ripe peaches, honeycomb, butterscotch, nougat and hints of toasted oak.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
