Totally opaque black red colour with a bright dark purple hue. Elevated aromas of liquorice and ripe dark cherries are overlaid by blackpepper with following dried meat, earthy vanillin cedar and spice. Supple across the mouth the medium bodied palate delivers savoury flavours of dark cherries, plums and liquorice over vanillin cedar, dried meat infusions and spicy pepper. Slightly dryish on the finish with very smooth tannins. Medium to long peppered aftertaste of plums, dark cherries, liquorice, dried meats and spicy vanillin cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 13.5%

Other Reviews….
75% machine-harvested, 25% hand-picked, destemmed and whole bunch-fermented respectively with cultured yeast, matured for 18 months in French oak (53% new). Leeuwin took time to come to terms with its Shirazs, but is now master of its destiny. It has black cherry and plum flavours in superabundance, plus finely tuned tannins, its modest alcohol is the key. Drink by 2038.
