2013 Douglas Laing & Co. Provenance Teaninich 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Douglas Laing actively source single barrels from Scotland's 'anonymous' distilleries. On this occasion, they've brought a Teaninich to our attention, distilled in 2013, a few years before several new stills were added to the set-up. We generally enjoy this make, which, while seldom complex, can be deliciously fruity and textural. The price here falls inline with Diageo's official 10 year old, however Douglas Laing's bottling delivers a higher ABV and zero chill-filtration via a single cask. 306 bottles were drawn from a refill barrel in late 2023. 46% Alc./Vol.
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Demerara sugar with warm freshly baked oat biscuits and buttery pastry. Palate: Lots of warming cinnamon spice with a creamy, caramel character. Finish: A vanilla, oaky depth lingers with juicy malt and toffee popcorn.
