2013 Douglas Laing & Co. Provenance Strathmill 8 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Hidden away on a side road in Keith with no visitor facilities, Strathmill's location is as obscure as its single malt. Owned by corporate giant, Diageo, the still set-up results in a lighter spirit, however, generalising about a 'house style' is difficult. Most of the outturn goes into blends, and there have been very, very few official bottlings. This edition consists of 358 bottles charged from a single re-fill hogshead. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Heaps of vanilla initially then comes sawdust and polishes wood with a touch of spice. Palate: Thick and creamy – custard with cloves, cinnamon and fresh apple peel. Finish: Long… anticipate honeycomb and barley with much of what has gone before.
