Benrinnes is on most malt lovers 'to do' lists, mainly because it's a contrast to lighter Speysiders offering a meaty, rich and spicy profile that's suited to sherry influence. While the quality and character can vary significantly between independent bottlings and official releases, the consensus is two thumbs up here, with Signatory delivering one for sherry lovers and bargain hunters alike. Tasters note date syrup, cherry jam, espresso beans and gingerbread, no doubt largely derived from time in first-fill and refill Oloroso butts. Sounds like a proper Winter dram, if you can hold out that long! At direct import pricing, you can afford to buy one for now and stash the second for a rainy day. 57.1% Alc./Vol. Zero chill filtration.
