2012 Rhum Rhum Liberation Agricole Rum (700ml)

Matured in barrels that previously contained French wine and labelled with the date of its "Liberation", rather than its distillation.

Tasting note: Deep gold ochre / copper penny colour. Prickly fumes of alcohol in the opening stages; further aeration finds hints of latex, buttered raisin bread and vanilla. Five minutes ups the aromatic intensity focussing on raisins, dates and cocoa. Creamy entry leads into an intense attack with bittersweet toffee followed by a medley of sweet spices and flashes of bounty bar in the aftertaste. Excellent balance at 59.8% Alc./Vol.
