2012 Elderton Merlot

Matured for 18 months in predominately French oak puncheons. Opaque black dark crimson colour with a dark crimson red hue. Nosing reveals ripe blackcurrant scents intermingling with traces of dark mulberry and subtle dark chocolate followed by some vanillin cedar and spice. Medium weight the palate is soft and fleshy featuring flavours of blackcurrant and subtle dark chocolate bullets over some vanillin cedar and light spice. Plush velvet smooth tannins. Aftertaste of blackcurrants, subtle liquorice and spicy vanillin cedar.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
