2012 Clarendon Hills Bakers Gully Syrah
This is Roman Bratasuik's entry level Shiraz intended for early drinking sourced from younger dry grown vines. Maturation takes place in French oak (85% new) for a period of 18 months.
A classic, rich McLaren Vale Shiraz, more open and expressive than a traditional Clarendon Hills Syrah
Totally opaque inky black core with a very deep crimson red black hue. Intense ripe blackberry and liquorice scents are followed by a whiff of dark chocolate with underlying vanillin cedar and spice. Full and rich with an opulent mouthfeel, flavours of ripe blackberries, liquorice and to a lesser extent dark plums saturate the palate followed by some dark chocolate and spicy vanillin cedar. Velvety but structural tannins. Fantastic fruit purity and density with a very long aftertaste of ripe blackberries, liquorice, subtle dark chocolate and spicy vanillin cedar. A plump, fleshy Baker’s Gully that whilst very drinkable now is capable of a further 5-6 years cellaring.
Alc 14.5%
