2012 Adelphi Benriach 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Neighbouring Glen Elgin and Longmorn, Benriach is becoming better known since Master Blender, Rachel Barrie launched a new range of NAS and age statements. More than six million bottles sold in 2022. Benriach's relatively robust, fruity style leans towards tropical fruits when matured in Bourbon casks. Indeed, fruit is at the heart of the distillate (think pears and peaches) which means it lends itself well to various maturations. Sweet sherry is one. Drawn from a first-fill Pedro Ximenez hogshead, one taster summed this up as "A bit of a sherry bomb, but there is a lot to like." The advanced colour suggest a very active cask. Limited to 275 bottles. 58.6% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
