Matured for 12 months in French and American oak hogsheads. Totally opaque black purple colour with deep dark purple red hue. On the nose toasty oak top notes are followed by some more subtle liquorice, blackberry and spice scents. Full bodied the palate has flavours of ripe blackberry overlaid with toasty vanillin oak followed by some subtle liquorice and spice. Soft well rounded tannins. Aftertaste of toasty vanillin oak, blackberry and spice. The oak component is too prominent.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
