2011 Gleann Mor Spirits Company Rare Find Ledaig 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Ardent fans should grab this single cask Ledaig from Glean Mor's latest outturn, but with just eighteen bottles coming to Australia, many will miss out. Extreme, even for this distillery, a 30ml sample delivers chimney soot and cured meats in equal measure, becoming oily and drying as the sweet malt is weighed down by the phenols; Dusted with cocoa and white pepper, there are also residual traces of shoe polish, brine and charry oak in this beefy, elemental expression that's as deeply satisfying as it is quintessential. Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2024 Bottled without chill-filtration at a natural cask strength of 56.5% ABV. One cask equates to 345 bottles.

Other reviews... Expect waves of peat smoke, pine needles and a touch of aniseed. On the palate barbeque smoke is balanced with orange peel. A little menthol and strawberries. The finish is a nice mix of red berries, peat smoke and spice.
