2011 Douglas Laing & Co. Old Particular Single Cask Blair Athol 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A key source for Bell's blended whiskies, Blair Athol is another Diageo-owned distillery with very few official releases. What is marketed as a single malt is usually out of sherry barrels, however the tasting note for this edition read like Laing's have opted for x-Bourbon wood. 285 bottles from a refill barrel. 48.4% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Carries some Bourbon cask heritage ahead of its dulcet and rich Highland Malt. Palate: Catch a little peppery zing before some later toffee, imbued with muscovado sugar. Finish: Clove studded orange zest opens, followed by that "All American" sweet flavour.
