2011 Douglas Laing & Co. Old Particular Single Cask Benrinnes 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

One of the original Flora & Fauna bottlings, Benrinnes first surfaced in the early 1990s, an era when single malts were still 'out of fashion'. Not a lot has changed when it comes to improving the availability of this underdog make. Judging by the colour, which is darker than most in our current Old Particular Collection, the refill cask in question may have been x-sherry, and a relatively active cask at that. 687 bottles make up the outturn. 48.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Custard cream biscuits give way to damp oak, ripe bananas and honey'd barley. Palate: A tang of baking spice coupled with freshly baked (buttered) scones and red apple peel. Finish: Vanilla ice cream with barley sugar and chocolate orange linger long.
